Nice Idea, Poorly Executed
We purchased one of these a while back, and received another as a gift. The Spotlifter works, to some extent, but there are serious flaws.

First, as noted by another reviewer, the battery life is limited. The limitation is not just in short term use (the unit runs out of juice very quickly) but in terms of long term battery life. I would be shocked if someone got more than a year's life out of the unit, based on our experience with both of the Spotlifters we owned.

Secondly, while not intended to deal with large stains or spills (we had floor standing deep cleaners for those purposes), the Spotlifter is intended to be quick to fill up, operate, and clean. While you can get the unit up and running pretty quickly (as long as the battery lasts), the reservoir and recovery tanks are just too small to deal with a serious stain. Not only is the running time limited, but the fluid becomes exhausted in a hurry. This might be a good product to have around if you have a white carpet, no dogs or children, and spill red wine once a week. This is not a good product for owners of pets larger than 10 lbs, or children less than 40 lbs.

Finally, there are some minor inconveniences in filling and emptying the tank, but these are fairly trivial compared with the more serious problems.

Good vacuum cleaner at a good price
I did not purchase this item through Amazon, but I could not find any reviews for this item anywhere, so I thought that I would write a review and help someone out who might be researching vacuum cleaners.

I paid about $120.00 for this vacuum cleaner.

I purchased this vacuum to replace my Rainbow Vacuum cleaner. (The rainbow worked awesome, but it was such a pain to use that I gave it away.) I wanted a canister vac, and I have mostly hardwood floors with a couple of rugs and a carpet.

My initial thought when opening the box was that it is a very nice looking vacuum cleaner, and it was a little more than I expected. I personaly think the size is perfect. It is easy to carry, and not very heavy, but it is not designed to be carried while cleaning, or worn, as some canister vacs are. (It is bigger than those type of vacuum cleaners.)

The casing and all of the hoses are plastic, but they seem very sturdy. The pieces connect and disconnect quite easily - with minor wiggling or pushing to get the hose pieces to lock into place. It wheels around quite easily as well.

The powerhead carpet cleaner works awesome! The head is motorized and self propelled - and pulls across carpets with ease. It seems to do an excellent job of cleaning. Since the powerhead is self propelled, it does not work well on small throw rugs, since it pulls the rug along with it. (My son and I solved this problem - he stands on one end of the rug while I vacuum to keep it from pulling.) I was extremely impressed with the powerhead. The powerhead has a hard floor switch, so that you can operate it on hard floors as well. This is handy, however the hardfloor brush attatcment works better than the powerhead for cleaning hard surfaces.

The brush attatchments work pretty well. I would say that the floor brush attatchment probably does not 'suck' quite as well, or work as effectively as a higher priced vacuum, but it does a very good job. It does an excellent job of picking up popcorn, dirt, fine sand, etc. It does an OK job of picking up bigger things (small pieces of paper, paper clips.) It does not suck up things such as legos, or marbles, etc. unless you take the floor brush attatchment off. If you are one of those 'suck everything up with no mercy people' - you might be minorly frusterated that the hose is slightly narrow in places, meaning you can't suck up larger pieces of paper or big wadded up tissue, etc.

The one I purchased included a 'turbo furniture brush' attatchment ... (I think that's what it's called.) Just a word to the wise - this is not motorized. It does have a rotating brush, however it is powered by suction. This didn't really bother me, and the attatchment still works pretty well, but online it sometimes appears to be motorized, and it is not.

Overall, this vacuum is exactly what I wanted, something not too small, but not too big, it cleans carpets and hardwood floors alike, and is easy to use. It also had some bonuses that I didn't really pay attention to while ordering, such as the automatic cord retraction. The retractable cord works great. I have had no problems with it retracting properly, and it makes it so much easier to store. It also has a bag change indicator - this works, but by the time the indicator shows you need a bag change, it's quite obvious that the bag needs changing anyway. (The vacuum simply loses suction.)

I love that it has a bag rather than a dust cup - the bag is extremely easy to change and install, and I used the vacuum for a few weeks before it needed changing. It's so nice to just toss the bag out, rather than mess around with a dust catcher.

I recommend this vacuum to anyone on a bit of a budget, and I have no regrets buying it. I have used it now for almost a month, and there has been no change in performance, it works just as well now as when I bought it. I've read a lot of complaints about other vacuum cleaners in this price range, such as the attatchments falling off, losing suction, breakage, etc. but I haven't experienced any of these problems with this vacuum. Great product!

NEVER SWEEP AGAIN ! ! !
I have tile and hardwood floors, and I just walk the Bissell PerfectSweep around my house (usually while I'm blabbing on the phone) and it SWEEPS UP EVERYTHING. No more bending! No more dust flying everywhere! It has little round sweepers on the sides that get right up to the edge of the floor by the wall. It's lightweight and the noise level is about the same as an electric pencil sharpener. I love it! Keep in mind that this product is NOT a vacuum, so don't get it for pile carpeting.

Gone thru 4 of these suckers, don't waste your money!
I bought the regular Shark sweeper 2 years ago and was so amazed, my aunt went out and bought one for her classroom. I bought one for my best friend for Christmas, my church nursery was so impressed with what I told them that they went out and bought the more spendy version Shark. Yes, it is very quiet and most of the time works perfectly, BUT, the handle keeps breaking. My first one broke after 10 months of use, my best friend is now on her 3rd shark vacuum because you can't buy any other brand where we live. Every Shark handle has broken off at the bottom of the vacuum so you have to push the entire vacuum head around the floor to use it. I am on my 4th Shark vacuum now in less than 2 years. The church nursery's broke after only a few months of use, the handle again. I was so upset I went out and looked for the Swivel Sweeper but couldn't find one so I bought the upscale 2 speed $50 Shark vacuum hoping this handle would work better. Well, it is still "working" but for some reason it is much louder than the other 3 and now it makes a horrible VERY noisy noise which after taking it completely apart to see if something was stuck, still sounds like a 30 year old blender, which defeats the point of late night clean ups after kids are asleep. I have only had this 4 months now. My best friend got a $50 3 speed Shark and it just "died" last month after less than a year. None has lasted more than 10 months with any of us. So for the few months it works, it is everything we wanted in a vacuum, but it is a waste of your money to keep buying them. Now that I am aware of other products out there I'm looking into them, even with a cord would be better than continuing to buy a Shark. And I went to their website to write them an email about all our problems with their products and there isn't a single spot I could find to "contact" their company. Fishy? I thought so too...

Henry Ford said, "I'll sell a car for $25.00- just give me the parts business." Bissell took a lesson from this- the vaccuum was priced very attractively, and the only bags that fit- cost $...a piece! Brilliant! But I assure you, my next vaccuum will NOT be a Bissell.... by the way, did the other review read more like and advertisement? Think it might have been written by a Bissell employee?
