Despite the few drawbacks, I do love this little guy (gal?)...
The only reason I didn't rate this little baby 5 stars, is because of the way the filter grabs hold of the lint and lighter fluffy stuff, which actually requires emptying more often than most bagless canisters. I much prefer vacuum bags, as then I don't have to touch the dirt at all and would have given this cleaner a 10 star rating if it had bags instead of the bagless canister. I place the filter into a very large green garbage back and bang it against a hard surface but still have to actually brush stuff out of the filter, so yes....if you have allergies this vacuum may not work for you. As far as the short hose and the exhaust blowing out the front...not a real problem for me, as I don't use the vacuum for anything but floors, and the vacuum does a great job on carpet, wood and tile and eventually does catch all the "runaway" dust bunnies! The best part of this cleaner is why I'm buying a second one - I have severe fibromyalgia, and this vacuum is not only the lightest weight I've ever seen or used, it also does a bang-up job of getting into tight spaces and in and around furniture. I live in a two story town house and have 2 vacuum cleaners now, this one, and a Dirt Devil, but I am buying a second one of these to replace the Dirt Devil, which does use bags and isn't a bad sweeper, but not nearly as good as this one.

Basically an electric broom
The product is fairly good at picking things up, but I would not buy this if you are looking for something to really vacuum your hard floors...I will say that the filter gets dirty quickly and once it is the vacuum definitely doesn't pick up much, and the battery life is not that great so vacuum quickly...Great if you want to knock the surface dirt off the floors, but if your floors are really dusty, I would sweep them with a regular broom first and then use this to suck up the dirt.

One of the best purchases I have ever made
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1IOQYGXQ20TPY The Euroshark sweeper is one of the best items I have ever bought. As the video shows, the sweeper is very versatile and useful. It works in either carpet or tiles, although I think it works best on carpets.

What it DOES pick up:
I have been able to pick up glass, nals, screws, paper, hair, dust, chocolate mix and many more things. This sweeper does pick up all of these things. I once broke a wine glass in the my carpet and the sweeper was able to pick up most of the pieces of glass. It allows me to do a quick sweep of the place to try to keep things neat.

What it does not pick up:
Crumpled up paper (as in the video), but it does pick up bits of paper.

Battery:
The battery lasts a surprising long time. Days actually. I charge my sweeper every 2 weeks or so (depending on use; I use it about 2-3 times a week and live in an apartment). I am not sure how long it actually takes to charge but I believe this is specified in the instructions.
With this sweeper.

Emptying the sweeper:
It is really easy to empty the sweeper. You just remove the compartment and dump it in the trash. I do have to say that it is annoying to clean the bristles of the sweeper. Hair strands get tangled in the bristles and it is hard to get them off. What I usually do is to use a pair of scissors to cut them up and then clean the bristles.

Bottom line:
This is a great investment and will make cleaning better, quicker and easier. I hope the video is better and that the quality is ok.

Update: 9/11/2008:

Ok, so the sweeper rebelled on me. It got clogged, started making strange noises and would spit out all it had cleaned. So, thinking I am a repair genious, I took it apart. What an ordeal! Take this advice I give you: Do Not Take It Apart! After I cleaned it, I could not put it back together. After a day of trying, I put it back together...in some form. The noises and reduced performance remained. But, somehow, the sweeper has been working very well again. It does not have the same strength, but after I dismantled it I cannot expect much. So, I still stand by my 5 star rating. I love this thing.

Hoover Fold Away
I have had this model vacuum for several years. I have been pleased with some aspects of performance, and very displeased with others.
I have appreciated the power of this vacuum, with multiple animals in the house it cleans up enough hair to fill the bin 3-4 times during each vacuum session. This has also been an annoyance, as I feel the bin must be on the empty side for the unit to perform well. While it is frustrating to have the suction power drop due to a full bin, it is still better than having to replace a bag!
Main positive attributes:
-bagless
-folding handle allows unit to fit in tighter storage
-multiple accessories allow multiple surface cleaning
-very powerful
-works VERY well on carpets and rugs

Main drawbacks:
-belts break frequently, can be difficult to find replacements these days
-filters clog easily and must be replaced for top performance, can be costly as unit has two filters, and each is approximately $9 to replace
-"kicks back" grit on very low carpets and hard floors, seems to spread the mess rather than pick it up
-the wheels don't seem to stay connected to the unit, creates an issue with vacuuming longer carpets

I've been pleased enough with the vacuum to keep it and use it over the last three years. However, I paid about $99 for the unit and do NOT feel that it was worth the cost. If I could, I would go back and purchase a different unit.

Use the right tool for the right task
I read the negative reviews on this item with some surprise and amusement.

I have been using this tool for its designed use - cleaning stair steps. It works magnificiently.

Here are a few tips: (1) The turbine spins from pneumatic pressure. You must push and pull on the button to direct the air over the turbine so that it will spin the brush; (2) Once the brush is spinning, just as with a jet engine, excessive resistance will significantly impede the speed of the turbine and diminish performance. (3) The clogging occurs when you slow the turbine so much from resistance (by using it on things like soft pillows or piles of clothing) that the air cannot spin the turbine with sufficient velocity to remove the hair from the collection points - therefore it clogs.

Don't use this on soft pillows. The softness of the pillow will wrinkle and create a surface with too much resistance for the turbine to spin at the speed necessary to function. The mattress cleaning tool, stiff brush or extra soft brush work great on pillows (remove 100% of pet hair).

DO use it on stairs or any other firm surfaces. Give the turbine a few seconds to come up to speed. Keep it at speed and it will perform wonderfully.

I have a black labrador retriever. I vacuum her fur during shedding season (a few cookies helped her overcome her initial conclusion that I had gone mad) with the mattress attachment. Then I use this attachment to vacuum the stairs and the stiff upholstery.

Used as above, the attachment removes 100% of the dog hair from any firm surface and does an excellent job of cleaning.

I love my Dyson and everything about. I think I like it more than my wife.

I hope this helps.
